7) Almora: (Uttaranchal)-374 kms North-East of Delhi. Almora, the horseshoe shaped town, was founded by Raja Kalyan of the Chand dynasty in 1560 AD. Traces of the old Chand fort, paved roads, wooden houses with beautifully carved facades and homes decorated with traditional 'alpapa' murals still reflect Almora's pride in its heritage. Swami Vivekananda lived in a cave just outside Almora, where he was inspired to carry his message all over the world.

Rudraprayag: Monal Resort (Uttaranchal)- 500 kms North-East of Delhi. Named after Lord Shiva (Rudra) Rudraprayag is situated at the holy confluence of Alaknanda and Mandakini rivers.
